"The Sisters Grimm - Fairy Tale Detectives" - Michael Buckley

After reading The Sisters Grimm Fairy Tale Detectives, this has to be one of my favorite children's chapter books! This book allowed me to tap into my inner child through the imaginative plot and creativity of the author. In addition to this, I loved how it connected to The Brothers Grimm and the stories told in the past. The reason I enjoyed the plot so much was because of the fast-moving pace and attention to detail of each character, situation, and challenge throughout the story. For example, each character matched a fairy tale character and their background/story. I thought that Puck (from A Midsummer Night's Dream) was very funny and witty. I could clearly picture the type of person he was and the author did a good job of conveying his personality through his jokes to the girls and lack of wisdom at times.  I also enjoyed the character Daphne since she was silly as a young girl and conveyed the image of innocence and hope in a child. One character that I had a hard time liking was Mirror. This was as a result of his stubborn and secretive attitude. I thought I liked his at first but I caught on soon to his real character. Although this was a part of the plot, I felt as though he was suspicious and was not on the same side as the girls, Daphne and Sabrina. Overall, I was drawn into the story by this attention to detail in each character. This kept me interested and wanting to flip the next page. After reading the first book of this series, I want to go back and continue reading books throughout the series.
